Verizon Speeds up whilst Cuba Lags Behind: [4th Oct 2009]

>>> A small Miami firm may have been given the right to lay fiber optic cables between the US and Cuba. TeleCuba Communications have said that the cables will be operating by the middle of 2011, but that permission still needs to come from the Cuban government. Cuba is currently the only Western Hemisphere country not to have fiber optics and still relies on slow satellite links.

>>> Verizon FiOS has ranked number one the the J.D Power and Associates annual customer service survey for television service providers. The survey measured 5 key areas including performance, reliability, cost and promotions. They also found that the average time a Verizon customer is kept on hold had dropped 13% in the last year and 4% fewer had experienced outages.
